Who we are

Made in Marshall (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates madeinmarshall.life to help visitors and locals discover Marshall County, Tennessee. This policy describes what information the live website collects and how we use it. We do not have user accounts or take payments on this site.

Information we collect

• Newsletter email. When you sign up on our newsletter form, we collect the email address you type and a record that you checked the consent box. Live signups are stored through our host’s form service (Netlify Forms). We use that email to send Marshall County events and Made in Marshall updates you asked for.
• Google Form answers. If you submit an event, ask to be listed, or request a listing update, you leave our site and type into a Google Form. Google collects whatever you enter there (which may include name, email, phone, and event or business details) and makes it available to us to review.
• Messages you send us. If you email or call us, we receive whatever you choose to include.
• Technical data from running the site. Our host (Netlify) and the tools that draw maps, measure traffic, and play the homepage video may receive your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device information, and similar request logs. We do not ask your phone or computer for GPS location.
• Public directory details. Business names, hours, emails, and phone numbers shown in the directory are published so visitors can contact those businesses. They are not taken from newsletter signups.

Cookies and similar technology

This site does not show a cookie consent banner. We do not set our own first-party tracking cookies in the Made in Marshall code. Third-party tools that load in your browser may set their own cookies or similar storage:

• Google Analytics 4. When analytics is enabled on the live site, a Google tag loads on pages you visit. It uses cookies to understand traffic and which links people use (including calls, emails, map clicks, outbound links, and newsletter signup). Google’s own policy applies to that processing.
• Mapbox. Opening the interactive map or a directory map loads Mapbox in your browser so tiles and routes can be drawn.
• YouTube. Playing the homepage theme-song player loads YouTube (a Google service) in your browser.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, some features (especially the map and video) may not work as intended.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

• Send the newsletter and related Made in Marshall updates you requested
• Review event, listing, and listing-update submissions and, when appropriate, publish them
• Operate, secure, and understand use of the website, including maps and the homepage video
• Respond to inquiries you send us by email or phone

The header weather badge shows Lewisburg-area conditions. Your browser requests that data from our own website. We then fetch the forecast from weather services on our servers using a fixed Marshall County location — not your device location, and not your IP sent onward to those weather services.

Who we share information with

We use service providers to run the site. They process data only as needed to provide their services:

• Netlify — website hosting, security logs, and newsletter form submissions (notified to our operations email)
• Google — Analytics (traffic measurement), Forms (event, business outreach, and listing-update submissions), and YouTube (homepage player)
• Mapbox — maps, tiles, and driving directions

If you follow links to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Google Maps, or other off-site pages, those companies collect information under their own policies. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share newsletter emails with third parties for their own marketing.

Email marketing and choices

Newsletter signup is optional. Checking the box and submitting the form means you agree to receive email updates from Made in Marshall. You can unsubscribe anytime by using the unsubscribe instructions in our emails, or by contacting info@madeinmarshall.com to ask us to remove or delete your newsletter subscription.

Retention

We keep newsletter emails for as long as you remain subscribed, or until you ask us to delete them. Google Form responses are kept as long as we need them to review and list community events or directory details. Hosting and analytics logs are kept for a limited period for security and operations, subject to each provider’s retention settings.

Where information is processed

Made in Marshall is operated from the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they run their services. If you visit from outside the United States, your information is processed in the U.S. as described in this policy.

Children’s privacy

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided an email or form submission to us, contact info@madeinmarshall.com and we will delete what we control.

Your choices

Email info@madeinmarshall.com to ask what newsletter address we have for you, to unsubscribe, or to request deletion of that signup. We can change or remove directory content we publish. We cannot directly control cookies, logs, or accounts held by Google, Mapbox, YouTube, or Netlify; those companies provide their own privacy tools.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the site after updates means you acknowledge the revised policy.
